Square Piano by Clementi & Company N°15271, London c.1825

This square piano was made by Clementi and Company c.1825. This instrument has a compass of 6 octaves (FF-f4), an English double action with mopstick dampers, and two pedals operating the sustain and Clementi’s patented ‘Bridge of Reverberation’. The case is veneered in jacaranda with rounded corners and brass moulding, brass inlay on nameboard and cheeks, standing on 6 turned and reeded legs with brass collars.

Nameboard inscription reads ‘Imperial Patent ⁄ Clementi and Company ⁄ 26 Cheapside ⁄ London’

This instrument was restored in late 2013.
