Clavichord by Arnold Dolmetsch N°131, Haslemere 1936
We are pleased to offer for sale this fine clavichord made by Arnold Dolmetsch in Haslemere in 1936.
This clavichord has a compass of 4 octaves & 2 notes (C - d³). The case is in walnut and rests on a trestle stand also in walnut. The keyboard is in lime with ebony naturals, keyfronts and sharps capped with ivory. The soundboard is in spruce with a blue painted scalloped border,
The nameboard inscription reads: ′Arnold Dolmetsch MCMXXXVI′, and there are a numbered stamp and ink inscription on the wrestplank.
Dimensions: 44¾ × 15¼ × 6″ (1135 × 385 × 150mm) approx.
Overall height: 31″ (785mm) approx.
This instrument is tuned to a¹=440.
This instrument has been fully restored in our workshops and is available to play and inspect by appointment.
