Spinet by John Kemys, Bristol c.1760
We are pleased to offer for sale this excellent spinet by John Kemys, made in Bristol circa 1760. This spinet has a compass of 5 octaves (FF,GG - f³). The case is in mahogany, crossbanded in mahogany with a boxwood line inlay, supported by a turned three-legged stand. The keyboard has ivory naturals and ebony sharps, the soundboard is in spruce bearing a cast rose of King David playing the harp and the initials B.H. The jacks are original and quilled with turkey plectra.
This spinet is tuned to a¹=415.

This instrument has been fully restored in our workshops, including restringing and replacement plectra, and is available to play and inspect by appointment.
