Square Piano by Longman and Broderip No.870, London c.1785

An excellent square piano from Longman and Broderip, serial number 870, this instrument has a Mahogany case with a triple line inlay, a French style stand with shelf and an elegant nameboard with inlaid lines and crossbanding, marquetry swags and the maker's enamel plaque in perfect condition. It has 5 octaves (FF-f³) with a single action with overhead (lever) dampers. There are three hand levers operating a split sustain and lute stop. The original full-length 'dustcover' covered in green silk is present. The maker's number '870' is stamped in front of the levers. In all this is a lovely instrument, complete and original, recently restored in our workshops.
